In 2015 Liam Dowling received the BoyleSports Irish Derby trophy from sponsor John Boyle after Ballymac Matt had landed greyhound racing's most prestigious prize.

Tomorrow at Powerstown Park, Clonmel, the two men will be allies as Dowling handles Boylesportsmagic for the Coursing Derby.

Indeed, Boylesportsmagic has been favourite to win this prize since his brilliant victory in the trial stake at Abbeyfeale.

Bred by Dowling, Boylesportsmagic was bought by John Boyle and his son Liam after the Abbeyfeale victory and he will be a strong fancy to win the fourth course in the first round tomorrow afternoon.

The favourite's biggest task in the top half of the draw could be in the quarter-final where his rival could be either of the fancied runners, Huntingtown or Cooney.

Main threat

Looking to the second quarter, the main threat could be Picture House who is trained by last year's winning handler Moss O'Connor.

Owen McKenna always has a fancied contender or two for the National Meeting and the New Inn-based handler has the 7-1 favourite Newinn Fifi for the Horse & Jockey Hotel Oaks.

This lassie was hugely impressive when winning the Corn na Féile Oaks at Abbeyfeale but she clearly has the ability to go all the way and deserves her place at the top of the market.

Her main dangers could well be from the bottom half of the draw in the County Galway bitches Crafty Perfecto and Cha Cha Matilda. Crafty represents Brian Divilly while Gerry Holian, a man with a terrific record at Powerstown, is the handler of Cha Cha Matilda.
