Local Cork trainer Kieran Lynch had a dream night at Curraheen Park on Saturday when he completed a terrific hat-trick in the second round of the Irish Independent Irish Laurels.

The first two winners, Rockybay Foley and Rockybay Rover, are both owned by Chrissie Slyne and they produced identical front-running performances.

Foley was claiming a 13th career victory from 17 starts when he flew to a best-of-the-round 28.14 victory over Rosstemple Brae. Rockybay Rover won by seven and a half lengths from Ballycowen Jake in 28.54 in Heat 5.

The third Lynch winner was Churchfield Der which landed Heat 6 in 28.46. This race saw the elimination of reigning champion Clonbrien Hero, which was crowded early and never got in a blow.

Ollie Bray's fastest first-round winner Bakery Lane was an impressive victor of the opening heat in 28.20 from Titus Spirit while the other heat winners were Flat White in 28.32, Chawke It Down in 28.38, Killmacdonagh in 28.73 and Native Chimes in 28.60.

At Shelbourne Park Pat Buckley's Droopys Biker was the show-stealer in the Champion Puppy 550 where he flew to the front off the second bend and then stormed clear for a seven and a half length victory over Lenson Blinder in 29.55.

The other heat winners were Gerry Holian's Burgess Paddy in 29.86 and the Graham Holland-trained duo Slippy Cian in 29.66 and Blue East in 30.09.
