It was a special weekend on the track front although the headlines must go to the likes of Ardnasool Jet, Ballymac Arminta and Skywalker Logan.

Despite early crowding, the powerful galloper came charging through on the latter stages for a deserving success by three and a half lengths from Vaguely Noble in 33.40.

At Shelbourne Park Liam Dowling's Ballymac Arminta became the fastest bitch to ever race over 525yds in Ireland with an astounding 27.83 in the second round of the Sporting Press Oaks. It was a stunning display and she is now, understandably, an even hotter favourite for outright glory.

Others to impress in their respective heats included trap to line winners Priceless Verona (28.02) and Mags Angel (28.12). It looks a wonderful renewal of the Oaks and many more brilliant displays are expected before it's June 1st conclusion.

On Friday night Ardnasool Jet set new figures for the 350yd trip at Shelbourne in the opening round of the Islandbridge Sprint when clocking a sizzling 18.38. He will be out again on Friday and it will be interesting to see if he could possibly lower his own track record.
