The BoyleSports Irish Derby got off to a hectic start over the weekend with all 23 first-round heats being run off.

The fastest winner was the Graham Holland-trained Lenson Blinder, wich flew home in 29.40.

Lenson Blinder confirmed his position as one of the leading market fancies for the classic as he led home the youthful Skywalker Logan by six lengths. He will again occupy the inside trap in Friday's opening session of the second round.

Next best on the clock was the 29.46 from Paul Hennessy's lightly-raced Jaytee Taylor. He, too, was hugely impressive as he took up the running on the second bend and went on to record an eight-length victory over Crohane Ronnie.

The two fastest opening-round winners were Holland's Slippy Cian and Angela Harrison's British challenger Droopys Verve, who both clocked 29.49.

Holland had seven heat winners, while there were doubles for Pat Buckley, Pat Guilfoyle and Paul Hennessy.
