It may be only the first Saturday of the year but there will be plenty of star trackers on show at Shelbourne tonight and the biggest name of all is that of English Derby champion Jaytee Jet.

Those arriving late will miss him, however, as he will be in action in a pre-racing trial as he begins his preparation for a major 2017 campaign.

That will commence with a challenge for the Best Car Parks Gold Cup which starts on January 21. It's planned to give him another trial next weekend.

A number of other top dogs are also booked in for trials in advance of the Joe Dunne Memorial and the Gold Cup which start on the next two Saturday's respectively.

There will be plenty of other top trackers on show as well tonight and one which jumps out of the card is the Graham Holland-trained Proud Graham (8.12) which contests an Open 350 and is well housed on the rails. He was very unlucky last time and can gain compensation now.

A dog which deserves a turn or two is Ken Busteed's Vivaro Swift (9.42) and he will be hard to beat in the ninth race, while Francie Murray's Old Fort Mill (9.57) can extend an impressive winning sequence in the tenth contest. His early pace can be decisive here.
