The Irish Derby hero Good News headlines a hugely exciting line-up for the first round of the Ladbrokes Easter Cup at Shelbourne Park this evening.

Good News is listed to contest Heat 2 and trainer Pat Guilfoyle reports him to be in "great form and very fresh". On all known form he has to be strongly fancied to lead home Droopys Cabaye and Droopys Denny.

The race of the night can be Heat 5 where the Graham Holland-trained kennel companions Clonbrien Hero and Sonic will be in opposition.

Clonbrien's early pace should be the decisive factor with Sonic doing his best work from halfway. But the likes of Kilgraney Denver and Swithins Brae won't be easily brushed aside.

Holland can also be on the mark with Drive On Tipp in Heat 1 where the new Ian Reilly acquisition Trinity Sadara is a very interesting rival

The Johnny Linehan-handled Droopys Noah enters the year as one of the most exciting prospects and he can show the way to Peter Cronin's bitch Vancouver in Heat 3 while Pat Buckley's Borna Gin should relish the longer distance by winning Heat 4 from Whoops Jack and Kilgraney Master.

There is also a very interesting programme at Curraheen Park this evening with the final of the Gain Cup backed up by the first round of the Greyhound & Petworld Supersprint.

Pat Buckley's Droopys Steel is the likely winner of the €5,000 stake. His early pace can carry him clear and his major danger could be Priceless Rum.

Owen McKenna has a strong hand in the sprint with Portmageewiseguy and Holycross Lad the leading contenders for the top prize.
