Borna Gin goes into tonight's Best Car Parks Gold Cup semi-finals at Shelbourne Park as the 3-1 favourite for outright honours and it will be a major surprise if he doesn't progress to next week's final.

Trained by Pat Buckley for Spain-based Javier Jarne, Borna Gin (9.57) has impressively won both rounds of the competition thus far and will wear the blue jacket in the second heat.

Borna Gin will have his kennel companion Coolavanny Mason on his inside and both dogs are expected to make the decider. Dumas and the wide-running Ballybough Murt are the other major contenders.

Trainer Buckley will also have Pennylane Lucky in the second heat and this bitch is well capable of playing a prominent role. However, the three favourites for this contest are Jaytee Yankee (9.42), Skywalker Rafa and Kilgraney Master.

Much depends on the battle to the bend on the outside between Skywalker Rafa and Kilgraney Master. The possibility of some contact between these two racers increases the prospects of Paul Hennessy's Jaytee Yankee racing to victory in the red jacket.

Reigning Irish Derby champion Good News will be in action for the first time since his big victory when he contests the Ladbrokes Easter Cup Trial Stake at Limerick.

Trainer Pat Guilfoyle reports the dog to be in very good form but likely to need a run or two to come back to his best. His main rivals are likely to be Droopys Dargle and Fantasy Joey.

The Limerick card also includes the final of the Dublin Coach 525 where Shelone Iso is the obvious favourite .

Also tonight the second-round heats of the Gain Cup will be run at Curraheen Park.
