Clares Rocket will make his first public appearance since his English Derby third when he has a trial spin around Shelbourne Park this evening.

The brilliant tracker had a tough English Derby campaign and was given a rest by trainer Graham Holland since he returned from his English trip.

Holland wants to get a few trials into him around Shelbourne in advance of the BoyleSports Irish Derby and, weather permitting, he will have the first of those spins today.

The trainer said: "He is in great form and a few trials will have him back in form. I want to get him used to the Shelbourne traps. Ideally, I would prefer not to run him in the Champion Stakes and to have him fresh for the Derby."

By the way, an interesting runner on Saturday's Shelbourne card will be Tyrur Harold, the dog which was bought by PJ Fahy after breaking the track record in the second round of the Longford Derby. He is scheduled to contest an AAO 550 and his performance will be followed with considerable interest.

Marie Gilbert's Vintage Year displayed terrific early pace last week when winning her semi-final of the A3/4 contest and she can win tonight's final (9.58) at Shelbourne. Her 1.99 split last week should see her lead her rivals and she certainly wasn't stopping last time.
