When the draw was made for the RPGTV Scottish Derby at Shawfield, there were seven Irish challengers for tomorrow’s first round with Pat Buckley’s three runners drawn in opposition in the opening heat.

His team was since increased to four with Beaming Mix Up getting the call following the withdrawal of Droopys Cymbals. The other Buckley runners are Coolavanny Mason, Pennylane Lucky and Borna Account, while the other Irish runners are Paul Hennessy’s Barefoot Painter and Chawke It Down and Fraser Black’s Maireads Spring and Kranky Mark.

On the home front, the top action this evening will be at Kilkenny where the semi-finals of the FFK McCalmont Cup will be run. Trainers Murt Leahy and Karol Ramsbottom account for seven of the 12 runners and the Leahy duo of Ballybough Murt and Ballybough Dad could well complete a double for the Conahy-based handler.

Also tonight the opening heats of the Dowling Memorial will be run at Tralee and Liam Dowling could keep the prize at home courtesy of Ballymac Sarahjo.
