Two fantastic races gave the huge crowd a marvellous evening as the semi-finals of the BoyleSports Irish Derby produced two epic contests on Saturday at Shelbourne.

The judge was called upon to decide the placings in both heats and in the first Magical Bale gave trainer Pat Guilfoyle a chance of doing the Derby double. He chased kennel companion Cabra Hurricane to the third bend before hitting the front and won by a neck from the big finishing Jaytee Taylor in 29.66, with Clona Blaze a head back in third.

Heat 2 was even closer with Slippy Cian grabbing a short head victory over the outsider Ballyanne Sim in 29.80. Clonbrien Hero finished a length third to give trainer Graham Holland a third finalist.

BoyleSports' betting on the final has Slippy Cian the 9-4 favourite ahead of Magical Bale at 5-2 with Jaytee Taylor at 3-1. Clona Blaze is 5-1 with Clonbrien Hero 11-2 and Ballyanne Sim 20-1.
