A fantastic night of racing at Shelbourne Park on Saturday resulted in Slippy Cian going to the top of the Boylesports Irish Derby betting.

Slippy Cian had been beaten by his kennelmate Totos Park a week earlier but he reversed the placings as he took over from Totos at the third bend and clocked a Derby-best time of 29.32.

Slippy Cian's trainer Graham Holland had a second heat winner in Clona Blaze while five of his six runners made it through to the semis. Clona Blaze led all when beating Crossfield Will by a length and a half in 29.46.

Pat Guilfoyle's Cabra Hurricane gave an exhibition of early pace as he won the opening heat in 29.60, holding off Jaytee Taylor by a short head with Kilgraney Master in third.

The progressive Newhall Missile, trained in Clare by John Browne, led all the way to beat Clonbrien Hero by two lengths in 29.44.
