Butt confirmed for Night of Stars
Star English tracker Hiya Butt was yesterday confirmed as a definite entry for the Night of Stars at Shelbourne on November 18 by his handlers Mark and Hayley Keightley.
Hiya Butt has contested the last two English Derby finals and set a scorching gallop in both until collared close home.
He won the Sprint event at the Night of Stars last year but Mark confirmed yesterday that he will be entering the Irish-owned tracker for the 525-yard contest.
Keightley will enter the brilliant sprinter Roxholme Hat for the Sprint and other UK entries for this race are likely to be Affane Party and Broadstrand Kiwi.
It is expected that there will also be a few UK entries for the staying races despite the clash of fixtures with the heats of the TV Trophy.
Meanwhile, the semi-finals of the Michael Fitzpatrick Memorial Oaks are the top events on the Irish scene this evening and they should attract a good crowd to Newbridge.
Eugene Price has a very strong hand after winning three of the four heats a week ago. His two fastest winners Pennys Rey and Pennys Ding clash in the second heat and Rey can make full use of her trap-one draw to lead the way into the final.
Pennys Minnie will be the Price runner in the first heat but it might be worth supporting the early-paced Vintage Year.
Marie Gilbert's bitch gave away ground on the bends last time and if she can rail tighter from her trap-four draw she will take a lot of beating.
News from Shelbourne is that the Comerford Cakes Stake will commence on November 25.
