Biker bites dust in Kirby Memorial surprise
The Kirby Memorial took on a new complexion on Saturday as the valuable Limerick feature witnessed a few shocks, biggest of which was the elimination of the unlucky Droopys Biker.
Pat Buckley's dog stumbled at the start and lost his chance in Heat 1, where victory was claimed by Brendan Maunsell's Cash Is King in 28.75.
Buckley's Droopys Davy had a rough passage but finished second in Heat 3 behind Graham Holland's Blue East in 28.62.
Holland supplied the fastest winner as Slippy Cian won by a wide margin from Cliffords Pick in 28.48. The other heat saw Paul Hennessy's Jaytee Taylor win by a neck from Master Jingles in 28.51.
There was a shock in the All Pet Supplies Cesarewitch final at Mullingar as Declan Byrne's Master Grizzly won in 33.21, while at Shawfield the Buckley-trained Borna Account qualified for the Scottish Derby final when winning his heat in 29.41.
