Despite being beaten in the first round, the Graham Holland trained Clonbrien Hero remains the 7/1 favourite to win the Irish Independent Irish Laurels at Curraheen Park.

Boylesports won't issue their full betting until this morning, but odds compiler Damien Lonergan said: "Clonbrien will remain as our 7/1 favourite. He got into a lot of trouble on Saturday and I felt he still ran a big race. There is no reason to replace him as favourite."

Clonbrien Hero has a tough draw next Saturday, when he again contests the opening heat. He meets kennel companion Riverside Oscar and the Paul Hennessy duo of Priceless Rum and Chawke It Down.

The hottest contest of the second round will be Heat 2, where the six runners are Dream Dude, Ela Alecko, Arclight Bolt, fastest first round winner Cosy Socks, Offshore Point and Sopwell Tracy.

Last year's winner Skywalker Manner got through as a fastest fifth and he will contest Heat 7, where he will be opposed by Hennessy's heat winner Away Jet.

However, like kennel companion Riverside Oscar he is likely to improve with each run following his injury lay-off.

Meanwhile, management were very happy with the first Saturday night meeting since the resumption of racing at Shelbourne and signs are promising for the immediate future with a very busy schedule.
