Liam Dowling's Ballymac Beach posted the fastest time in the semi-finals of the Comerford Cakes Puppy Stake at Shelbourne on Saturday and then drew the inside jacket for the decider.

Ballymac Beach shot clear to the bend from Sliabh Liag as the favourite Spoofer missed the kick and then baulked on the opening bend. Only two counted in the contest and Ballymac Beach held Sliabh Liag by two lengths in 28.73, with Riverside Larry also qualifying.

The litter comrades Killer Bee and Herecomesdahoney dominated the finish of the four-runner second heat, with Killer Bee overcoming early trouble to lead before halfway and he won by two-and-a-half lengths from Herecomesdahoney in 29.11. Redzer Ardfert also made it to the final.

Dowling had two of the second round winners in the Gain Christmas Oaks, with Ballymac Meena in 28.93 and Ballymac Trinkle in 28.82. The other heat winners were Barney Mooney's Mrs Chippy in 28.66 and Graham Holland's Rural Romance in 28.69.

At Curraheen, the semi-finals of the Slyne Memorial 575 were won by Clonbrien Prince in 30.98 and Skywalker Logan in 31.07.
