Liam Dowling enters the semi-final stages of the €80,000 Kirby Memorial at Limerick tonight in a strong position, with his two runners Ballymac Syd and Ballymac Tas likely to be hot favourites for their heats.

Ballymac Syd (9.54) is the solitary non inside seed in the first semi and should benefit from a clear run. He overcame traffic problems to qualify last week but he should be closer to the lead throughout the contest this time and he is made a strong choice to lead them home.

Robert Gleeson handled Toolmaker Josie is improving with each outing and he is well capable a big run for owner Willie Hyslop, while Phil Gough's Spoofer is also coming into top form at the right time.

Syd's litter sister Ballymac Tas (10.09) has been the star of the competition thus far and she is also well housed in trap one in the second heat. Tas should get a clear run all the way and her big finishing power should see her leading them home, with Toolmaker Me Dad and Antigua Rum the likely main rivals.
