The final of the Gain Dog Nutrition Christmas Oaks will bring the curtain down on the major open competitions for the year at Shelbourne tonight and the intriguing question is whether the young sensation Droopys Ant can bring her unbeaten record into 2018.

Trained by John Linehan for Sean Dunphy, Droopys Ant (9.12) has been an end-of-season revelation and has taken the step from unraced competition into top open company in her stride. She goes into tonight's decider with a record of six wins from six outings and a series of sizzling times.

This is unquestionably the toughest task yet faced by Droopys Ant as she is opposed by five high-class females. She is well drawn in trap five but has the early paced quartet of Crossfield Kate, Tibet and Canyar on her inside, with strong-running Mrs Chippy out in six.

The run to the bend will be vital and Crossfield Kate has a flying set of sectional clocks behind her. She can fly from traps but will she hold the favourite into the bend?

Any trouble up front will open the way to the big-finishing Trinity Sadara and Mrs Chippy to steal the spoils. Stand by for a thriller but Droopys Ant's class may shine through. She gets the vote to win.
