When the machines rise up Terminator-style and become our overlords we won't even have the consolation of being better than them at golf.

Rory McIlroy recently accepted the challenge of competing against a Golf Laboratory Computer Controlled Hitting Machine in a test of accuaracy.

The World number two found the inanimate robot a serious challenger as they attempted to hit golf balls into kitchen and laundry appliances, making light of McIlroy's appearance as a child on UTV chipping into a tumble drier.

The video commissioned by the European Tour is well worth a watch.
