Tom's 60s swing
ONE constant through the maelstrom at Royal St George's was the smile of 'Old Tom' Watson, whose reputation as the best wind player in the world is endorsed by his five British Open titles.
The secret? "Swing with ease into the breeze," he explains. "You see a lot of young kids out there trying to hit it really hard into the wind and that doesn't flight the ball very well. Swing it a bit easier and it takes the height off the ball. I'm 61, I can't swing hard, so the ball's flighted naturally."
