Tim Rice closed with a four-under 68 to clinch ninth place behind winner Matthew Webb in the Galvin Green PGA Assistants' Championship at Little Aston.

The Limerick man picked up £800 as he finished on four-under, eight behind Webb, whose final round 69 gave him the title by two strokes on 12-under 204 from Ben Hall.

It was a good week for the Irish, with seven players making the cut. Dun Laoghaire's Michael Kelly finished a fine 12th on one-under, despite a closing 74, with Banbridge's Richard Kilpatrick finishing just outside the top 20.

Balcarrick's Iarlaith Keane tied for 23rd place, with Douglas's David Barry 32nd and Ciaran Molloy from Blackwood Golf Centre and Greenore's Ian Brennan tied 33rd.
