Caolan Rafferty put his South of Ireland elimination behind him to help Dundalk retain their AIG Leinster Barton Shield crown and book their place in the All-Ireland semi-final in Westport at the end of September.

The Walker Cup hopeful was knocked out in the second round at Lahinch on Friday evening, but he was alongside team mate Eoin Murphy at Royal Tara at 7.30am the following morning for the All Ireland champions' semi-final clash with Woodbrook.

With Rafferty in the side, Dundalk won the tie by two holes before defeating The Island, who beat Palmerstown House on the 19th, by five holes in the final to win a second successive senior pennant.

The Island had better luck in the Leinster finals of the AIG Jimmy Bruen Shield, where they beat Co Meath 3-2 before going on to beat Naas, who had defeated Wexford 3.5-1.5, by 3.5-1.5 in the decider.

At Nenagh, Charleville beat Ballykisteen 3-2 to win the AIG Pierce Purcell Shield as hosts Nenagh defeated Bandon 4-1 in the AIG Jimmy Bruen Shield to win the Munster pennant.

The Connacht finals of the AIG Junior Cup, Barton Shield, Jimmy Bruen Shield, Pierce Purcell Shield and Senior Cup will be played at Westport from August 8-11.

Meanwhile, Ardee and Edmondstown will meet in the Leinster final of the GUI All Ireland Inter-Club Fourball following respective 4-1 wins over Howth and Waterford.

In the Barton Cup semi-finals, The Island beat New Forest 4-1 as Wexford beat Castleknock 3-2.
