County Sligo’s Ruairi O’Connor completed a wire-to-wire win in the Donegal Senior Scratch Cups in association with Solace Cancer Support Centre.

The Rosses Point man opened with a three-over 76 in difficult conditions to take the lead, then carded a one-over 74 in the afternoon to set the target at four-over 150.

North West’s Kyle McCarron also shot 74 but he had to settle for second place, two strokes behind with Fintona’s Ryan McNelis third after a 76.

While the Junior Scratch Cup was reduced from 36 to 27 holes due to the inclement weather, Donegal’s Declan Murrin handled the elements best to come out on top by four shots from clubmate John McCaughan Jr.

The event raised over €1,200 for Solace Cancer Support Centre in Donegal.
