Monkstown pulled off part one of the challenge off by beating Lahinch in the Munster final.

Now they face an even more difficult task when they take on Corrstown or Mullingar in today's semi-finals of the AIG Intermediate Cup.

Mary Egan (16), Liz Whitaker (17), Fabienne Moloney (18), Grace Coakley (19) and Sue McGuire (20) have put together an excellent campaign, overcoming Muskerry, Kinsale. Douglas and Skibbereen before beating Lahinch in the Munster final at Lee Valley.

The winners of Monkstown's semi-final will face Castlerock or Loughrea in tomorrow afternoon's final and both the Ulster and Connacht champions are on a roll.

Loughrea cruised to the title at Gort when they beat Athlone 5-0 with wins for Chris Murray (17), Anne Kelly (17), Helen Shaughnessy Foley (17), Geraldine Keely (18) and Tanya Whyte (18).

Castlerock beat Dunmurry with Kathryn Mark (16), Ita O'Connor (16), Valerie Reid (16), Rosaleen McGuinness (18) and Phil McKenna (18) the starting quintet.
