Shane Lowry finished up the Waste Management Phoenix Open with his worst round of the week but still left Arizona with a top-15 finish as Hideki Matsuyama beat Webb Simpson on the fourth extra play-off hole.

The Offaly man carded three birdies and three bogeys yesterday to sign for a final-round 71, and a 10-under par total.

Lowry had moved himself into contention on Saturday with a stunning five-under 66, but he failed to build on that score yesterday, eventually finishing in a tie for 15th position, seven shots off the winner.

Pádraig Harrington was the only other Irishman in action in Phoenix and the Dubliner missed the cut after opening rounds of 72 and 71.

Lowry and Harrington's next assignment is at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-AM from next Thursday.
