The class of internationals Colm Campbell and Tiarnan McLarnon was not enough as Warrenpoint and Massereene came up short in the Ulster finals of the AIG Senior Cup at Royal County Down.

Less than 24 hours after helping Ireland complete a hat-trick of wins in the Home Internationals in Scotland, the two internationals were in action in Newcastle, Co. Down, but while they won their matches their clubs came away empty-handed.

McLarnon won his semi-final singles for Massereene, but it was no consolation as Shandon Park won 3-2 thanks to wins for Nicky Grant, Philip Purdy and Jonny Gourley.

Campbell also won for Warrenpoint as they beat North West 4-1 in their semi-final, with Jamie Fletcher, Paul Reavey, Stephen Coulter also weighing in with wins.

However, in the final Shandon Park prevailed 3-2 and they now go on to next month's AIG Cups and Shields National Finals at Carton House.

Stuart Bleakley beat Paul Reavey 4&3 and Nicky Grant defeated Stephen Coulter 6&5 to put Shandon Park 2-0 ahead.

Wins for Fletcher and Campbell (again) left the Ulster title riding on the last match and it went to Shandon Park with Philip Purdy defeating former Walker Cup and Eisenhower Trophy winner Paddy Gribben by 4&2.
