THE traditional ILGU early-season Scratch Cup calendar has been boosted by incorporating the top events into a series.

Sponsored by Titleist, the inaugural Irish Ladies Scratch Cup Circuit for Ireland's top female golfers will start on Sunday with the Zara Bolton Scratch Trophy at the picturesque Royal Portrush.

That event will be closely followed by 36-hole tournaments at Royal County Down and Cork over consecutive weekends.

After Easter, players will then compete at Woodbrook and Lahinch, with the Circuit culminating at Hermitage, where double points will be on offer.

Order of Merit points will be awarded to players who shoot scores within three strokes of the CSS (Competition Scratch Score) or better, with the best four cards of six to count.

The dates and venues are -- March 25: Zara Bolton Scratch Trophy, Royal Portrush; April 1: Royal Co Down Ladies Scratch Trophy, Royal Co Down; April 7: Cork Ladies Scratch Cup.

April 22: Woodbrook Ladies Scratch Cup; April 28: Lahinch Scratch Trophy; May 6: Hermitage Scratch Cup.
