Donegal boss Jim McGuinness is inside the ropes following Rory McIlroy and Sergio Garcia's fourballs game with Phil Mickelson and Keegan Bradley. Is he working for Paul McGinley?

There was heavy speculation linking McGuinness with a role with the European team in January 2013 but this was played down by Paul McGinley two months later.

"He's a good family friend, and he's a guy that I admire," McGinley said in March of last year.

"I'll be sharing conversations with him like I will with a lot of close friends over the next two years, but the idea of him sitting in the cart beside me flying around Gleneagles is not going to happen."

It looks like McGinley has had a change of heart.

McGuinness is not the only Donegal man with the best seat in the house for the Ryder Cup, Donegal captain Michael Murphy is alongside his manager.
