Q-school woe for cutler

WALKER CUP hero Paul Cutler needs to find form today if he is to make it through this evening's 54-hole cut and into tomorrow's fourth round of Stage One at European Tour Q-School.

Portstewart star Cutler, top scorer for GB & I in their recent victory over the US at Royal Aberdeen, was wallowing in 69th on nine-over at Frilford Heath yesterday after adding a lacklustre 76 to the 77 he shot on Tuesday. Mark Staunton (29) from Ballinasloe shared fourth on four-under after his splendid second-round 68, while Waterville's David Higgins went through the halfway mark in a tie for ninth on one-under, a 69 boosting his prospects of a place among the all-important top 25 and ties tomorrow evening.

Derry's Michael McGeady (33) shared third on five-under after a fine second-round 69 at Ribagolfe, near Lisbon.

Ballymena's Chris Devlin (72) and Brendan McCarroll (71) shared 11th on two-under, while John Kelly fell back to 28th on one-over after a 75.
