Waterford's Seamus Power shot a superb final round of 66 at the Canadian Open last night to claim an impressive tied-tenth placing overall - his first top 10 finish on the PGA Tour.

Power's storming finish, with five birdies in his final six holes, saw him shoot a 33 on the back nine for a sixteen-under par total (272) in Oakville, Ontario.

Elsewhere, Graeme McDowell has received an invitation to play in next month's US PGA Championship at Quail Hollow.

The 37-year-old is ranked 101st in the world and outside an automatic qualifying place, having missed the cut in four of his last five tournaments.

Meanwhile, Olivia Mehaffey enjoyed a top 10 finish at the European Ladies' Amateur Championship in Switzerland after an impressive final round. The Royal County Down starlet started the final round tied for 15th after rounds of 73, 71 and 73. But she saved her best until last with a three-under 69 on the Lausanne course.

She finished on two-under (286), six strokes behind French winner Agathe Laisne (280).
