Poulter defends Rory McIlroy for snubbing young fan
Ian Poulter has jumped to the defence of Rory McIlroy after the Irishman apparently snubbed a young fan looking for an autograph.
The young kid ran up from behind McIlroy as he made his way from the 18th green after winning the British Open yesterday.
But TV footage shows the three-time Major winner extend his arm to stop the would-be autograph hunter.
McIlroy took plenty of criticism on twitter for the incident but Ian Poulter insisted that players are told not to sign any autographs until they have their cards signed and completed.
Just to clear up the signature thing. We are asked not to sign autographs until we have officially handed in our scorecards. #RulesAreRules— Ian Poulter (@IanJamesPoulter) July 20, 2014
