Poll tips McIlroy to outgun Tiger in Majors

Holywood's Rory McIlroy will win more majors in this coming decade than Tiger Woods, according to a poll conducted on

World No 1 Woods completely dominated the Noughties by winning 12 majors -- nine more than any of his rivals (Padraig Harrington, Phil Mickelson and Vijay Singh were next best with three each).

But with Tiger out of action after a series of allegations over his private life -- no-one knows if he'll even return to the game this year -- and Father Time starting to catch up with him (Woods will turn 40 in 2015), Golf365 readers believe McIlroy is the man to step into his shoes.

McIlroy (pictured above) posted 34pc of the vote in the poll asking 'Who will win most majors during the coming decade?' relegating Woods (30pc) to second.

Phil Mickelson was a distant third with 14pc, while rising Japanese star Ryo Ishikawa was fourth with 10pc.
