O’Donovan claims win at Specsavers Liffey Valley Pro-Am
Richard O'Donovan
Lucan’s Richard O’Donovan won the East of Ireland title in 2011 and this year secured a Sunshine Tour card for the 2023/24 season when he finished in a four-way tie for 17th in Final Qualifying at Heron Banks Golf and River Club.
He’s back home now and while he’s unattached, he clinched what was a popular home win in the Specsavers Liffey Valley Pro-Am at Lucan Golf Club last Friday.
O’Donovan shot a five-under par 68 to win the €1,000 first prize by two strokes from Ballina’s Eddie Tracey and top the Order of Merit.
Brian Doheny was third with a two-under par 71 with Glasson Lakehouse’s Colm Moriarty tied fourth alongside Limerick’s Tim Rice, Michael McGeady, Rathfarnham’s Liam Power, The Island’s Shane Jenkinson, The K Club’s Liam Grehan and Kilkenny’s Eoin O’Connor with a level par 73.
Grehan took the team prize by four points from Palmerstown House’s Graham Byrne with 93.
