Obama latest US president on fairway heaven
US PRESIDENT Barack Obama might not be the best golfer to have ever lived at the White House, but he ranks among the most enthusiastic.
The round he played with his travel co-ordinator Marvin Nicholson and two sports journalists on Saturday made it the 11th straight weekend the president, a 17 handicap, got out onto the golf course.
It was the left-hander's 32nd game this year and 145th since taking office, including one with Tiger Woods in Florida in February. Fifteen of the past 18 US presidents played golf. John F Kennedy averaged 80 and was rated best by 'Golf Digest', followed by Dwight D Eisenhower.
George HW Bush, who once got down to 11, and his son George W, a useful 15-handicapper, figure at fifth and sixth, with Bill Clinton, famous for taking 'Billigans', next, just ahead of Mr Obama.
