Meadow's magic spell
STEPHANIE MEADOW hopes to fall under the spell of that old Major Championship magic once again this week in California.
Meadow conjured-up a terrific tie for third on her professional debut at the US Open in Pinehurst last June. Today she makes her 2015 bow in the ANA Inspiration, the first of five Women's Majors.
"Great few days practice, can't wait to get going," the Jordanstown native tweeted from Mission Hills. Meadow, 23, recently has "taken some time off" as her father, Robert "is very ill … I've been at home just taking care of him.
"It's been tough," she told Radio Foyle recently. "But its always nice to take a break and I'm pretty happy with how my practice has been going."
She described playing golf right now as "kind of like a little heaven on earth for me. I really do love golf. I've a passion for it and it really does help in a difficult time to have golf. It's really important".
After missing her LPGA Tour card by one exasperating stroke on the 11th tie-hole at Q-School last winter, Meadow needs to hit the ground running once again as she launches her race for a place on the European Solheim Cup team.
