Lowry's miracle escape at Firestone earns European Tour shot of the year
Shane Lowry's miracle escape on the final hole of the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational has been voted the European Tour's Shot of 2015.
Leading by two shots on the 18th at Firestone, Lowry sent his drive into the trees but somehow managed to scramble from 127 yards to secure a par and the biggest win of his life.
"It was actually a pretty horrific lie." Lowry said at the time. "It was sitting down in a hole. It was almost like someone had stood on it, but it was where the crowd was walking.
And I just said to (my caddie), I'll try and hit sand wedge and just get it down to the front of the green. I pulled it a bit too low and went into the tree. The rest is history."
Nearly a quarter of all votes were for Lowry's winning shot. The Offaly man overcame competition from the likes of Rory McIlroy, Miguel Ángel Jiménez and Patrick Reed to win the award.
