SHANE LOWRY missed out on a place in this week’s Honda Classic by one tantalising stroke after shooting a four-under par 67 in the yesterday’s qualifier at Mayacoo Country Club in West Palm Beach.

The four places on the Honda timesheet on Thursday were taken by reigning Irish Open champion Jamie Donaldson of Wales, Sweden’s Alexander Noren and American duo Darron Stiles and Vaughn Taylor, all of whom shot sweet 66’s.

Lowry hoped to play at PGA National this week and try and force his way into the elite top-50 before Monday’s final deadline for next week’s Cadillac at Doral. Instead, he’ll now tee it up tomorrow week at the Puerto Rico Open.

Those who failed to qualify included: 67 Richard S. Johnson; Shane Lowry; Si Woo Kim; David Bradshaw, 68--Michael Letzig; Tim Petrovic, 69 Jin Park; Eric Meierdierks; Marc Turnesa; Marcus Fraser; Bubba Dickerson; Kelly Kraft, 70--Justin Bolli; Jim Herman; Billy Mayfair; Nick O'Hern; Robert Gamez; Brett Wetterich; Kent Jones; Robert Damron; Brad Adamonis.
