Cavan golfer Leona Maguire has taken the clubhouse lead at the Omega Dubai Moonlight Classic after a brilliant round of 64.

Maguire posted nine birdies and one bogey during a round good enough to claim the course record at Emirates Golf Club. The 24-year-old started well, picking up shots at the third and fourth holes before making two more birdies at eight and nine to make the turn at -4.

Two more birdies followed at ten and 11 before Maguire dropped her only shot of the day with a bogey at the 14th. However, three more birdies at the 15th, 16th and 18th saw Maguire finish with a spectacular round of 64, which is the record at the Nick Faldo-designed golf course.

Maguire's twn sister Lisa is also competing at the event, but didn't do as well as her sister on day one, carding a three-over-par 75.
