Leona in open field
Leona Maguire, the world number one amateur, and her Curtis Cup team-mate Olivia Mehaffey join South Korea's Eun Jeong Seong and Attaya Thitikul (Thailand) as the amateurs in the Ricoh Women's British Open at Kingsbarns, starting tomorrow.
Maguire, who recently won the British Women's Amateur Championship, has already played in two LPGA events this season - the Marathon Classic and the US Women's Open.
She missed the cut both times, but is hoping the third time is the charm this week.
Mehaffey, who helped Arizona State win the NCAA Division One finals last May, is ranked tenth in the world.
Thitikul made history by becoming the youngest known winner of a professional tournament when she claimed the Ladies European Thailand Championship title in June aged 14 years and four months.
