Irish pair disappoint in Peter McEvoy Trophy tournament

IRELAND'S Kevin Le Blanc and Rowan Lester finished well down the field in the Peter McEvoy Trophy tournament at Copt Heath in the West Midlands yesterday.

Le Blanc, the reigning Irish U-15 champion from The Island, posted rounds of 75 and 78. His final round included back-to-back double bogeys on the homeward stretch.

His 296 aggregate gave him a share of 16th place alongside eight other players, including Lester, who closed with scores of 77 and 75 that also featured two double- bogeys.

Haydn McCullen from Delamere Forest won the event on five-under 279, two ahead of defending champion Bradley Moore. Mallow's James Sugrue finished on 16-over-par 300, while David Carey of Carton House carded 303.
