Olivia Mehaffey suffered a final-round collapse as she surrendered the Helen Holm Trophy, with England's Olivia Winning snatching Scottish Open Stroke Play Championship victory from her grasp at Troon.

The 18-year-old from Royal County Down went into round three tied for the lead on three-under with Sweden's Linda Lundqvist, but suffered a difficult round over Royal Troon's Old Course yesterday.

However, Skerries' Maria Dunne did ensure there were two Irish competitors in the top three, as she finished third.

Those two performances will no doubt have impressed the Great Britain and Ireland selectors - with the Curtis Cup team to face the USA at Dun Laoghaire in June set to be named on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Mehaffey will now dust herself down as she prepares to defend her Welsh Ladies' Open Stroke Play crown at Conwy at the end of the week.
