Fitzpatrick's Top man

FORMER European Tour player Ronan Rafferty is the ambassador for TopGolfer.ie, an online golfing community for players with a nine handicap or less.

This year, 30 Scratch Cup events were held as a 'Tour' and the champions of each of these competed over 36 holes on the Montgomerie Course at Carton House for the 'TopGolfer Tour Championship' title last weekend.

The winner was four-handicap Rob Fitzpatrick, of Dunmurry Springs Golf Club.

Fitzpatrick won twice on tour, at his home club and at Rathsallagh, and he produced the goods in the final, winning with a total of 143, five shots ahead of Derek Basquille (three) of Enniscrone.

Tramore's David Kiely, also playing off a three handicap, was third on 149.
