Final-day blunders cost Kelly European title
Maurice Kelly squandered a useful lead as he suffered a disastrous four-hole spell in the final round of the European Seniors Championship in Estonia.
The 63-year-old international from Killeen Castle went into the last round two strokes clear. But double-bogeys at four and seven and bogeys at five and six sent him plunging down the leaderboard.
Kelly carded a 77 for a five-over-par total of 221 and a share of sixth.
That was four strokes behind new champion Lorenzo Sartori, an Italian who won by two from Swiss golfer Markus Frank. Defending champion Adrian Morrow from Portmarnock ended with a 75 for a 223 aggregate and a share of 11th.
