THE father and son theme continues with the 24th World Invitational Father and Son Golf tournament being held at Waterville, Co Kerry from Wednesday, August 7 to Saturday, August 10.

Organised by Carr Golf, the event has become a prestigious annual gathering for teams from the USA, Ireland and Europe, providing a welcome boost to tourism.

Wednesday is practice day and there are three days of competition using a Best Ball Stableford on Thursday, Scotch Foursomes Stableford on Friday and a Best Ball Stableford on Saturday.

A total of 82 teams from 12 countries have entered. Defending champions are Irving and Jeffrey Azoff from the USA.

Well known fathers and sons who will tee it up include Dermot and Brett Desmond, Finbar Furey and his son Finbar, JP and Kieran McManus, Charlie and Jack McCreevy and internationally-renowned golf course architect Tom Fazio and his son Logan.
