codd survives cut in turkey

LADIES TOUR: Ireland's Rebecca Codd (nee Coakley) was safely inside the cut when an electrical storm halted play in the second round of the Turkish Airlines Ladies Open with 31 players still on the course in Antalya yesterday.

Codd was eight-over for her opening 36 holes after a three-over-par 76, leaving her 10 off the pace set by Diana Luna (70), Christel Boeljob (71) and Stefane Croje (74). Martin Gillen was four outside the cut mark on 13-over after 15 holes of her second round.

CHALLENGE TOUR: Simon Thornton compiled a second successive round of 68 to share eighth place on six-under going into the weekend at the Allianz Challenge de France. Scotland's Jamie McLeary leads by three on 11-under after a scintillating, bogey-free 63 at Disneyland, Paris, yesterday.

Niall Kearney lives to fight another couple of days after squeezing through the cut on one-under with a 73, but Colm Moriarty missed the weekend on level par after back-to-back 71s.

PGA TOUR: Bill Haas kept his first-round lead intact on Day 2 of the rain-delayed Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow last night.

Haas shot a second-round 70 to take the clubhouse lead on 10-under-par, one ahead of Phil Mickelson (69 66) and two ahead of Vijay Singh (68 68).
