The Irish Club Professional Championship will return to the five-star Dromoland Golf & Country Club in County Clare from May 16-17.

The PGA in Ireland yesterday announced a three-pronged sponsorship deal with DS Automobiles, Carr Golf and Galway-based Monami Construction backing the €13,000 event.

Waterville's David Higgins, who successfully defended at Dromoland last year, will be bidding for a title hat-trick at the course redesigned by JB Carr and Ron Kirby.

"We were very happy with the profile the golf course and estate received from the inaugural tournament last year," said Mark Nolan, managing director of Dromoland Castle.

"A second year gives us an opportunity to once again engage with professionals from all over Ireland and to promote and develop the golf facility at Dromoland Golf & Country Club."
