Clarke received his accolade not only for his achievements at the highest level but also for his contribution to junior golf and to the game at all levels.

Ballybunion was the Golf Course of the Year; Maurice O'Meara of Killarney won Secretary Manager of the Year; the Dylan Hotel, Dublin, was named Small Hotel/Boutique Hotel of the Year and the Trident in Kinsale was the Golf Hotel of the Year.
