Glen Johnson hits out at 'clueless' critics on Twitter after Palace implosion
After Liverpool’s title hopes were all but ended, defender Glen Johnson, took to Twitter to attack fans who criticised him as part of the defence that conceded a three-goal lead. “Absolutely clueless,” he wrote.
After being accused of levelling criticism at his team-mates or manager, Johnson clarified his remark by tweeting: “So many sofa experts in this game. Absolutely no idea about football what so ever #Jokers.”
Liverpool’s trial by social media did not end there.
Tottenham’s official club account shared a video mocking the Merseysiders’ slide from title favourites to rank outsiders, including footage of Steven Gerrard’s on-field rallying cry after the win against Manchester City at Anfield.
The tweet was subsequently deleted and London club said they were looking into a security breach of their Vine account and apologised for any offence caused.
