Galway options for Cyclone

High-class chaser Hidden Cyclone could stick to the Flat at the upcoming Galway Festival if the ground comes up fast at Ballybrit.

Shark Hanlon's stable star made his first ever start on the level at Leopardstown last week and ran out an emphatic winner in the hands of Patrick Mullins, after which the trainer nominated the Galway Hurdle as his main objective.

While that lucrative event remains top of his agenda, Hanlon has raised the possibility of switching to the Connacht Hotel Handicap on the opening night.

He said: "He's come out of the race well, we're very happy with him and he couldn't have done it any better than he did the other day, so roll on Galway.

"Hopefully he'll go there and run a big race for us. We don't know what the ground is going to be, so we'll just have to wait and see.

"We want to run in the Galway Hurdle, but if the ground came up quick he mightn't run and we also have the GPT (Connacht Hotel Handicap) as another option.

"It will be one or the other and we'll just see which way it goes nearer the time.

"The entries for the Galway Hurdle close on Wednesday, so we'll see what mark he gets for that and go from there."
