Tensions have started to boil over in the second Test of the International Rules Series in Perth following a late hit on Ireland defender Chris Barrett by Australia's Joel Selwood.

Barrett was taken out by the Geelong midfielder which immediately sparked a scuffle between the two sides. Selwood's tackle was blatantly late, and although he was black carded for the challenge, the tension from the tackle was taken into half-time as both teams engaged in a brawl entering the break.

Ireland took an early lead through back-to-back goals from Shane Walsh and Barrett before Australia then shortened the deficit through overs from Rory Laird and Zach Merrett.
