Full-forward Ciaran Archer was scorer-in-chief again at Parnell Park last night as his haul of 1-8 helped Dublin book a Leinster U-20 football final date with Laois.

Fresh from mauling Longford by 26 points in the quarter-finals, Tom Gray's side went through the motions on home soil to record another big win.

St Maur's attacker Archer, who struck 2-8 against Longford, was to the fore again with his goal 15 seconds into the second half breaking Wexford's resolve.

The win secures Dublin's place in the final on Friday week.

Wexford, who beat Wicklow and Louth in the previous rounds, scored just two points in the opening 40 minutes and only came good with a series of points late on as Dublin ran in their full allocation of subs.

Dublin led 0-9 to 0-2 at half-time but that margin would have been far greater only for 10 wides.

Archer grabbed his goal shortly after the restart and there was no way back for Wexford from there as Dublin cruised home.

Scorers - Dublin: C Archer 1-8 (7f); R McGarry (f), J Doran, B O'Leary, N O'Leary 0-2 each; C Kinsella 0-1. Wexford: M Molloy 0-2; J Myler (f), D Brooks (f), S Nolan, C Kavanagh 0-1 each.

Kinsella gives Laois platform for easy victory

Eirgrid Leinster U-20 FC Semi-final: Laois 1-13 Meath 0-7

Laois will take on Dublin in the final of the EirGrid Leinster U-20 football championship after they breezed past Meath in O'Moore Park.

Laois enjoyed a bright start as Ronan Coffey's early shot for a goal flew over, and Diarmuid Whelan doubled the lead. Luke Mitchell replied with a couple of frees for Meath either side of an Alan Kinsella point, but Laois took control soon after.

Cathal Slevin floated a wonderful ball to an unmarked Dan McCormack, and he squared to an equally unmarked Alan Kinsella, who palmed to the net. Laois hit the next four points without reply, with four different players on the scoresheet, as they overwhelmed a shell-shocked Meath.

Dáithí McGowan tried to get the Royals going with fine free, but Ronan Coffey hit back for Laois to leave them 1-8 to 0-3 up at the break.

Meath made three changes at the break to try kick-start their challenge, but Laois were just too good. They outscored the Royals 0-3 to 0-1 in the opening 15 minutes of the half, and cruised to victory from there.

Scorers - Laois: A Kinsella 1-1; M Barry 0-4 (3f); R Coffey, D Whelan 0-2 each; C Slevin, J Owens, D McCormack, M Doran 0-1 each. Meath: L Mitchell 0-2f, A Lynch 0-2 (1f); D McGowan (f), M Costello (f), J Morris 0-1 each.
